Saving Drafts vs Publishing Changes in Divi

When editing your site, it’s important to know the difference between saving a draft and publishing live changes. Drafts let you work safely without showing updates to visitors until you’re ready.

Step 1 – Open the Divi Visual Builder

Go to the page you want to edit and click Enable Visual Builder from the WordPress admin bar.

Step 2 – Make Your Changes

Edit text, images, or layouts as needed. Your edits appear in real time, but they are not live until you publish.

Step 3 – Save as Draft

Instead of publishing right away, you can save your work as a draft.

  • Click the Save button (bottom-right purple circle).

  • Then click Save Draft instead of Publish.

Drafts are visible to you when logged in but hidden from your site visitors.

Step 4 – Publish Your Changes

Once you’re happy with your edits:

  1. Click the Save button again.

  2. Select Publish.
Your changes are now live for everyone to see.

Step 5 – Exiting the Builder

Click Exit Visual Builder to view your page as a visitor would.
This is a good way to double-check that everything looks correct on the live site.

Additional Notes

  • Use Draft mode for bigger changes you’re not ready to show yet.

  • For small quick fixes, it’s fine to publish directly.

  • You can always roll back to a previous version if needed (see [Rolling Back to a Saved Version]).
