Resetting a Password in WordPress

If you’ve forgotten your WordPress password (or just want to change it), you can reset it quickly from the login screen or inside the dashboard.


Option 1 – Reset from the Login Screen

Step 1 – Go to the Login Page

Navigate to your login page:
www.yourdomain.co.nz/wp-login.php


Step 2 – Click Lost your password?

Below the login form, click the Lost your password? link.


Step 3 – Enter Your Email or Username

Type in your account email address or username, then click Get New Password.


Step 4 – Check Your Email

You’ll receive an email with a password reset link. Click the link to open the reset page.

⚠️ Don’t see the email? Check your spam or junk folder.


Step 5 – Create a New Password

Enter a new secure password, then click Save Password.

Option 2 – Change Password from the Dashboard

Step 1 – Log in to WordPress

From WHMCS or /wp-login.php, log in with your current password.

Step 2 – Go to Your Profile

In the left-hand menu, click Users → Profile.

Step 3 – Update Your Password

Scroll down to Account ManagementSet New Password.
Enter your new password and click Update Profile.


Additional Notes

  • Use a strong password with letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Password managers (like LastPass or 1Password) help keep logins secure.

  • If you don’t receive the reset email, your host may need to check mail settings.
